Err... Is it supposed to be all brown and sludgy? Well, I followed the recipe (more or less...) so I guess it must be okay. I suppose I'll know one way or the other if my humans survive the night!

The recipe says it's supposed to go with dumplings or mash, but I don't think my humans would be too keen on that, so I think I'll stick to rice. That way, if they don't like the Slumpie, at least they'll be able to eat the rice from underneath.

Now it says just to add everything else and let it simmer for a while. Good job this is a big pan - and I hope my humans are hungry! Smells, um... interesting...

In go the mushrooms, the broccoli, the stock and the ale - I'm not really sure about that last one, it doesn't look very nice. Still, I expect the garlic and the sage will mask the taste a bit.

First, brown the mince and the garlic - well, that's easy enough!

The last bit of preparation is an "optional" paste of butter and flour to thicken the sauce. I'm not sure if I'll need it, but it's best to have some standing by just in case. I'm not very good at this stirring lark, so I don't want to have to do it in a panic later if it's all too runny.

Now to mix the stock - yeuch! I'm going to be brushing bits of stock cube out of my fur for days! This jug's a bit tall for me as well - I know, I'll sit on the margarine tub for extra height.

Mmmm - garlic! It's a bit fiddly to chop up, though.

The mushrooms are all sliced - you can never have too many mushrooms! Now on to the broccoli - the recipe says you're supposed to use spinach but I don't think my humans are too keen on that, so I'm using broccoli instead. It's still green, so I don't suppose it'll make much difference...

First to lay out all my ingredients so they're to hand when I need them. Wow - this is quite a bit more complicated than cheese on toast! I think I'd better prepare everything before I actually start cooking - otherwise I'm liable to get in a mess part way through.

I've decided I'd like to try some more cooking, and I've found an interesting looking book of recipes to peruse - Nanny Ogg's Cookbook. She's surrounded by vegetables and cooking utensils on the front, so she must know what's she's talking about.

Let's see... Ah, here's one! "Sto Plains Slumpie is Ankh-Morpork's most famous dishes." That must be a good one, then! I think I'll make if for my humans to have for dinner tonight. If the people of Ankh-Morpork like it, that's good enough for me!
