We beat a hasty retreat to the nearest tube station. I don't think I've ever been so glad to get on an underground train.

The aliens don't seem to have made it as far as Enfield yet - but it's only a matter of time!!!

By the time we got to Hampstead Heath, it was clear that gender segregation had been enforced - presumably to prevent the further procreation of the human race.

More abandoned children's garments told a grisly tale as we continued on. The aliens must have been targeting the young in order to keep the adults in line.

I figured this was a likely place for the human rebels to set up their headquarters. I wanted to go in and see what we could find out, but my human persuaded me that it would be better for us to keep moving.

We passed into the territory of a different tribal group, but remained mercifully unmolested by whoever had been driven to take refuge in the woods.

This sign may have been friendly in tone, but I wasn't fooled. I kept up my vigilance.

Then, all of a sudden, my worst fears were confirmed! Half a child's mitten lying abandoned in the path was a sure sign of alien abductions!

Apocalypse 10, originally uploaded by Aloysius_Flyte.

Eventually, we emerged onto the apparent normality of Muswell Hill Road, but I still didn't feel safe. I kept a wary eye out for anyone exhibiting a peculiar shambling gait, or sporting a glowing crystal on the back of their neck.

Then we passed something that sent shivers down my spine. This was clearly something constructed by a tribal society of feral teenagers, its purpose to warn trespassers away from their territory.

Apocalypse 8, originally uploaded by Aloysius_Flyte.

A landscape of random concrete blocks strewn about the scrubland exacerbated my feeling that we'd stumbled into a bad 80s science fiction movie. I imagined we would come out of the woods to discover there'd been a nuclear attack and only Leicester had survived.

Or something...

Apocalypse 7, originally uploaded by Aloysius_Flyte.

We passed this fenced-in, windowless building, which I thought must be where they were keeping the human subjects for whatever experiments were going on at "The Laboratory" - but my human said I was just being silly.

Apocalypse 6, originally uploaded by Aloysius_Flyte.

Things started getting weird when we passed this gateway, set back from the road and half hidden in the trees. What on earth could be going on in there?

Alexandra Palace is certainly a very attractive building and looked very pretty in the sunshine.

I just had to stop and get a shot of these glorious flowers. Summer really was in evidence today.

It all started innocently enough with a pleasant stroll along a wooded pathway, with the sun shining down on us.

Apocalypse 2, originally uploaded by Aloysius_Flyte.

The starting point for our walk was Alexandra Palace - a station my human passes through every day but has never stopped at before today.

Apocalypse 1, originally uploaded by Aloysius_Flyte.

In an effort to get fitter, my human and I decided to go for a long walk this afternoon. Little did we know, as we waited for the train, what was in store for us along the way...
