It always depresses me seeing what bears have to subject themselves to for the entertainment of humans. That poor jester bear looked less than pleased with his lot in life. Really, bears should keep their humans better trained!
This is the entrance to the Bloody Tower, so-called because of the number of prisoners who supposedly died there. It's where the young princes were kept when the Duke of Gloucester (soon to be Richard III) locked them up - that is, if you believe Shakespeare's version of events...
If you look carefully, you can see two of the Tower ravens on a perch in the background of this shot. The legend goes that the city of London will fall if ever they fly away - I think it's a bit of a cheat keeping their wings clipped...
And here we are at the Tower Of London itself. I always imagined it just being one big round tower, but the grounds are much more extensive than that. There are actually lots of towers, along with a palace, so the whole place looks more like a fort than a tower. I guess they had to have quite a lot of room, since some prisoners brought their families and servants to live here with them.
After the over-excitement of Stan's Bangalore Adventure, I thought it would be a good idea to do an educational entry about my trip to the Tower Of London, just to get things back under control.
On the way there, we passed my human's favourite London landmark - Tower Bridge.
