We found a lovely little wooden seating area in the Conifers section. I never knew there were so many kinds of conifers - it took us quite some time to wander round them all.

All in all, the National Arboretum was a lovely end to our trip and well worth a visit.

There was quite a jungle in some places - the range of types of plants was really huge.

The pagoda in the Chinese garden was perfect for a bit of light meditation.

These columns were originally part of the facade on the Capitol Building, but were replaced when a new wing was added. They brought them to the Arboretum to make this rather odd, but quite striking, display.

Our last day in Washington brought us to the US National Arboretum.

We started and ended our tour at the R Street Gate and must have walked several miles.

The weather was glorious and there were lots of interesting and attractive plants to see.
