Bear Explores... Waterbeach

As part of All the Stations #HaveAnAdventure, the humans and I travelled by train to a station we had never visited before - Waterbeach!

Waterbeach 1

The station has only two platforms, which are staggered in a way we hadn't seen before:

There's a shelter...

And a Help Point...

But no bins!

There is also this card reader, which apparently works for ITSO transportation smartcards:

The station sees about 430,000 passengers per year. During off-peak hours there is a service every hour with supplementary trains every 30 minutes during peak hours, taking 58 minutes to arrive at London King's Cross.

Waterbeach itself is a large English village on the edge of The Fens, 6 miles north of Cambridge:

Also on the village green is this interesting poetic plaque, with its own guardian frog:

We found a pretty church:

And went for a very pleasant walk through the woods and along the River Cam:

We came across these friendly fellows on a handily placed bench:

It was a gloriously sunny Easter Sunday and it was lovely to get out and about in unfamiliar countryside:

So, thanks to Geoff and Vicki for inspiring us to go on this railway adventure!
