Leckhampton Hill

aloysius_bearLast weekend, the humans and I went to visit our friends who live in Cheltenham. On Saturday, they suggested a 'short walk' up Leckhampton Hill and we all agreed we would walk the distance to get to the bottom of the hill, for extra exercise... This included going through a lovely park, which featured part of the river:
There was some weird RPA (random public art, as the humans call it):
And a large and very pleasant fountain:
There was also this lovely stone construction, though we weren't sure what it was meant to be for:
By the time we reached the area where the hill was situated, everyone was already a bit tired and we were rethinking the next stage of the outing. So, we stopped off at the pub:
After some light refreshments, everyone was feeling more enthused, so we ventured onwards to Leckhampton Hill itself! I was quickly glad I wasn't one of the people doing the actual walking...
There were a couple of rest stops along the way...
It was a tough climb, but the view was worth it!
This is called the Devil's Chimney:
There were plenty of beautiful hawthorn trees in full bloom, one of my primary human's favourites:
The total elevation was 294m - we didn't actually climb that far, but it certainly felt like it!
My secondary human found this beautiful post at the very top of the hill - a lovely message to make the trip feel that much more worthwhile:
All in all, we were glad we made the effort - though we still had to make our way back down again and also all the way back to the house...
