aloysius_bearA few weeks ago, the humans and I collected together a large group of wonderful friends and spent seven nights in a house in Surrey called Goddards. It was a beautiful building, and quite extensive, with sculptured gardens all round it.
There were various interesting things in the grounds, like this old well:
Even more interesting features were to be found inside. Nobody would get through this lock in a hurry!
Some of the terrain proved rather treacherous for one so small - help!
As usual, the humans packed many games to play during the week:
There were lovely surroundings in which to play them:
I particularly liked the banquet hall, where we spent most of our time:
The house itself offered a different type of entertainment in its antique skittle alley:
I tried to join in, but the stone bowling balls proved rather unwieldy - oof!
Other people brought their own entertainment and were more than willing to offer instruction:
Such a large group required a large number of supplies. This was the result of one of many shopping trips:
And, of course, that many supplies required much cooking! Luckily, there was always someone ready to don the chef's hat and provide for the group:
My favourite item that was cooked during the week...
...was the cake!
But certain lovely people also provided savoury snacks for my human, who isn't supposed to eat sugar - how thoughtful!
We didn't stay inside all the time. On the contrary, there were several long walks out in the beautiful surrounding countryside:
Spring had definitely sprung, and we managed to enjoy some sunshine amidst the recurring rain:
The walks also garnered fuel with which...
...to build a roaring fire as the evenings drew in:
It was a relaxing and highly enjoyable week, and we made sure to record our positive impressions in the log book before we left:
Goddards was the perfect venue for what turned out to be a holiday of excellent food, excellent games, and most importantly excellent company. I'm looking forward to the next one already!
