Life on the River
The humans and I just spent a fabulous week on the river between Oxford and Abingdon.
It was, in the vernacular of the younger humans on the trip, a holiday made of win!
We started out with an overnight stay in Oxford with my human's brother and sister-in-law, during which we visited the Pitt Rivers Museum.
I was glad to see a fellow bear guarding the entrance:
There were other friendly (and furry) creatures to chat with inside:
These fellows, on the other hand were neither friendly nor furry:
I spent some time chilling with the great Charles Darwin:
I'm not sure what he would have to say about this specimen we discovered outside:
We then took a nostalgic trip to my human's alma mater...
...where we reminisced about university days in the sunshine:
We took out one of the college's punts for a pleasant afternoon on the river - though it seems as though my human's brother was less than impressed with the steering:
We then joined up with the rest of our party and upgraded to a narrowboat for the second stage of the holiday:
The weather was intermittently inclement, but we forged on:
These "three men in a boat" seemed to have the right idea:
Along the way, we picked up some alarmingly bright flowers and a new plant overlord, which we assiduously fed with insects throughout the rest of the trip:
It was indeed a holiday of much win, hopefully to be repeated again next year!

I loved punting the few times I did it but it is rather hard to steer! It's to be sure whether your human's bro is hiding from the camera or the horror of the navigation!fail.
Are those baby pitcher plants? Ugh, they give me the creeps. Carnivorous plants are just wrong! (Hope you stopped off at Clerkenwell to pick up some triffid guns, just to make sure).
