San Francisco

On our last full day in the Bay Area, we headed into San Francisco itself on the double decker CalTrain.

We arrived just in time for a yummy lunch of clam chowder and calamari on the famous Pier 39, which was incredibly touristy, but still fun.

There was an odd carousel that played no music, and had pandas to ride on.

We purchased all the noms at the fudge store.

Zoltar spouted some nonsense about laughing first not last - I was rather hoping he could make me "Big".

This was as close as we could get to Alcatraz, as we hadn't booked, but it still looked quite impressive from a distance.

The Golden Gate Bridge was barely visible through the haze - we actually got a much better view of it from the air on the flight home the following day.

The sea lions certainly had it good - lazing around on their own special platforms while the tourists gawked.

Next stop was Fisherman's Wharf, where we discovered the Museum Mechanique, which contained all sorts of antique arcade games, all in working order.

We decided we were better off not knowing what this one was supposed to do...

On our travels, we came across this happy chap, who offered to share his beer.

After a lengthy wait, we finally boarded one of the famous cable cars, hanging off the side in the traditional manner. One of my humans loved it, but the other found it a bit traumatic, especially on the steep downhill.
We didn't have much time, due to the length of the journey, but I think we did quite well to tick off the most important tourist spots!
