Amsterdam Post 2 (Out and About)

Our hotel was at the top of the street where the bulb market is situated, so we wandered its length several times. It wouldn't be Amsterdam without tulips, after all!



What I wasn't expecting was violently colourful cacti - when they decide to flower, they really decide to flower!



This cheerful fellow gave us the lowdown on what to see:

Helpful street ornaments made sure we didn't forget where we were:



And a canal boat tour was an absolute must - though this shot is focused rather more on me than the waterways...



Once we got out into open water, there were some interesting vessels to see:

This fine fellow was very proud to tell me all about the monument he was guarding:



It was a memorial commemorating the suffering caused by war:



So, a varied expedition, I think you'll agree - Amsterdam is a lovely city of many interesting sights.
